Eduardo Montemayor Rangel, a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on October 24, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on October 20, 1946, in Nadadores, Coahuila, Mexico, to Rogelio Rangel Lozano and Maria de la Luz Montemayor, Eduardo was known for his warm smile and generous spirit.
After graduating from Alamo Heights High School, Eduardo proudly served in the United States Army from 1970 to 1973 as a flight operator during the Vietnam War. His bravery and dedication were recognized with several honors, including the Bronze Star Medal, Service Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Army Accommodation Medal.
Following his military service, Eduardo devoted over 40 years to nursing, making a significant impact on countless lives at Nix Hospital, Kindred Hospital, and Trisun Hospital. His compassion and skill inspired many aspiring healthcare professionals and left a lasting legacy of care and kindness.
A true animal lover, Eduardo had a deep commitment to rescuing and nurturing stray animals, providing them with the love and care they deserved. His home was filled with rabbits, birds, dogs, and cats, each one a testament to his generous heart.
Eduardo found joy in a variety of hobbies, including fishing in Port Aransas, where he cherished weekends spent with family and friends. He was also a talented artist, expressing his creativity through drawing and painting. His passion for building and craftsmanship led to numerous DIY projects, showcasing his ingenuity. An enthusiastic barbecue cook, he loved sharing delicious meals with loved ones, and his meticulous lawn care reflected his pride in his home, creating a welcoming environment for all.
A devout Christian, Eduardo accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and his faith was a guiding force in his life. We take comfort in knowing he is now at peace with his Heavenly Father.
Eduardo (Lalo) leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, creativity, and an appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who were touched by his generous spirit.
Eduardo is preceded in death by his parents Rogelio Rangel Lozano and Maria De La Luz Montemayor; his beloved spouse Minnie Rangel, Brother Roberto Pena, and sister Ninfa Guerrero. Eduardo will be missed dearly by his daughters Lisa Banda ( Roy ), Irma Bustos (Joe), Evette Rangel, and Stephanie Duarte(Alex), son Edward M. Rangel, Jr.(Shawna); step-children Daniel Jaime Castillo, Guillermo Castillo(Enereida), and Alondra Molina; 25 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings Mercedes Gallegos, Jose Rangel, Oscar Rangel, Arturo Rangel, Raul Rangel, Roy Rangel, Letty White, Ruth Espinoza, and Roberto Rangel; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation to take place at Castillo Funeral Home on Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with Prayer Service to begin at 6:00 p.m. Family and friends will gather at Castillo Funeral Home on Monday, November 4, 2024 for a Chapel service at 9:30 a.m. with burial to follow at San Fernando Cemetery III.
