Edward Villa Jr., known to his loved ones as "Boy," entered eternal rest on December 6, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 79. He was born on September 25, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Angelina G. Villa and Edward R. Villa. Edward's warm and caring nature made him a devoted father, loving grandfather and cherished brother, uncle and cousin.

Edward was known for his strong character and unwavering devotion to his family. He was a loving father, a pillar of strength and a provider who always put his loved ones first. With his quick wit, charm and infectious laughter, Edward had a magnetic personality that drew people towards him. His vibrant spirit and warm-hearted nature made him a joy to be around. Throughout his life, Edward remained steadfast in his faith and was an active member of St. Leonard Catholic Church. He found solace and comfort in his religious beliefs, and his devotion was an integral part of who he was.

Edward was a man of integrity and honor and a constant source of support and guidance to his children, Lisa Marie Coughlin and Edward Villa III, and his wife, Shannon. Edward's love extended to his treasured grandchildren, Ross Alan Gore, Emily Grace Coughlin, Morgan Elizabeth Coughlin, and Edward Villa IV. He held a special place in the hearts of his sisters, Elena Valero and Alice DeHoyos, as well as his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Edward was preceded in death by his brother, Robert G. Villa; his former wife and mother of his two children, Cecilia C. Villa; and his wife, Ernestina S. Villa, who is survived by her son, George Esquivel Jr., and grandchildren, Alexis and Alexandria Trevino. Edward's family would like to extend their gratitude to those who provided compassion and support during his final days, to include Genevieve.

Edward was a dedicated and hardworking individual who had a strong passion for his career and achieved numerous accomplishments throughout his time in the military. Having served his country with distinction, Edward proudly dedicated over 24 years of his life to the United States Air Force. He was a Vietnam veteran and his military service was marked by bravery, sacrifice, and a deep sense of duty. Edward's commitment to his country was exemplary and he leaves behind a legacy of honor and patriotism. His dedication and hard work were a testament to his unwavering work ethic and determination.

In his leisure time, Edward found solace in various hobbies. He had a passion for fishing, hunting, watching sports and traveling. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending quality time with his loved ones, creating lifelong memories. Edward's artistic side flourished through his love for painting, while his culinary skills were evident in his quest to perfect his famous brisket. He was a man of many interests and always found joy in pursuing his passions.

A traditional farewell ceremony has been planned to honor Edward's life. Family visitation will take place on December 21, 2023, at 2:30 p.m., followed by a public visitation at 4:00 p.m. A Rosary service will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on the same day at Castillo Mission Funeral Home. A Mass will be celebrated on December 22, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. at San Martin de Porres. Following the Mass, Edward will be laid to rest with military honors at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 10:45 a.m. This final tribute will be a fitting recognition of Edward's devoted service to his country and his honorable contributions.

In memory of Edward, the family kindly requests contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society or Disabled American Veterans. These heartfelt gestures will ensure Edward's legacy continues to positively impact the lives of others.

Edward's presence will be profoundly missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts and minds of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he find eternal peace in the hands of the Divine, and may his family and friends find solace in the cherished memories they shared with him.
