Riojas
December 15, 1965 – February 1, 2023
Edward "Eddie" Riojas was joined with the Lord on February 1, 2023, at the age of 57. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, on December 15, 1965.
Eddie is preceded in death by his father, Alfonso D. Riojas; brothers, Julio Riojas and Jose G. Rangel.
He is loved and will be greatly missed by his beloved mother, Maria de la Luz Riojas; siblings, Doris McCaleb (Virgil), Ralph Riojas (Debbie), Diana Perez (Rudy), Mary Helen Saucedo (Vincent), Gloria Miller (Ray) and Martin Riojas; sister-in-law, Lydia Rangel; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend, Jesus Arturo Salazar; and a host of friends and co-workers who treasured Eddie's friendship. Eddie's greatest treasure was his family, especialmente su madrecita.
For many years, Eddie, his father and his brothers, provided the music for the 11 a.m. Mass at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Eddie's voice was bold and strong. Visitors often turned to see who the man with the voice was. He loved to sing. He worked for Labcorp for 29 years. His supervisor spoke of Eddie with fondness, recalling that he hired him at Labcorp. His co-workers treasure Eddie's sense of humor y su manera de ser. A quiet man of many talents, aside from his passion for music, Eddie also enjoyed baking, cake decorating and Aikido Martial Arts. His friends and those close to him remember him as a decent human being, a gentle soul. Loyal. Trustworthy. Kind. He will definitely be missed by those he leaves behind.
Eddie's Viewing will be held at Castillo Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m.. A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel.
On Thursday, February 9, 2023, Family and Friends will gather at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, for a Viewing from 9 a.m. until 11, a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. A Procession will depart after the Mass to San Fernando Cemetery II, where Eddie will be laid to rest.
Services are under the direction of Castillo Funeral Home. Floral tributes should be delivered to Castillo Funeral Home by Noon on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
