Elena Alvarez, 88, of San Antonio, Texas went home to be with the Lord on April23, 2026. She was surrounded by her loving family and husband of 50 years, Felix Alvarez.
Elena was born in San Antonio, Texas on February 28, 1938, to Manuela(Rodriguez) and Leon Campos. She lived in San Antonio throughout her life and raised all of her children there.
Elena's love for Jesus was a constant throughout her life and she instilled this deep love in her children. She read the Bible to them, told Bible stories, offered Thanksgiving, cited scripture verses, and generously offered prayers. Elena also derived great joy from caring for her flower gardens and grandchildren.
Elena was blessed to be survived by her husband, Felix, and all of her children-Rose Marie Fernandez, Ruben Reschman, Jesse (Liz) Reschman, Genevieve Arispe,Elizabeth (Rudy) Reschman, Sylvia Briseno, Veronica Reschman, Minerva Reschman, Selena (Michael) Martinez, and Felix (Aira) Alvarez. In addition, she is survived by seven of her siblings-Celia (R Rendon, Lupe De La Luz, Felix Campos, Mary Alice Garcia (Rafael), Joe Campos, Juan Campos (Maria), and Roland Campos. Additionally, her length of years allowed her to enjoy the lives of many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who also survive her.
Visitation services will be Monday, May 4, 2026 at Castillo Funeral Home Chapel from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the Castillo Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
The family is grateful for all who cared for her through her later years. Elena's generous love and discipleship will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
