Our beloved mother, grandmother, eldest sister, family and friend, Elena R. Balderas was called home by Our Lord Jesus Christ on August 20, 2026 at age 90. Born March 10, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas, Elena was the eldest of 11 children (6 boys and 5 girls). She was reunited in Heaven with her husband of 39 years George Balderas Jr., son Albert “Ricco” James, her parents “Ama” Antonia Reynosa (mother) and “Apa” Raymond Reynosa (father), along with 3 of her beloved siblings.
Elena was an active member of the Women’s Acts, a member of the Cursillo Movement, and devoted her life faithfully to Christ. Growing up, Elena took great pleasure in doing many things from participating in pageants to being involved in the community Activity Center in her later years. She always made time to read her Devotional Books and added in some drama with People’s Magazine and watched her novellas. Above all, her life's greatest joy was spending time and spreading faith with family no matter where that took place.
Following the beat of the music, Elena loved dancing, cooking and being able to bring smiles and laughter to those around her with her shining diva personality, quick wit, love and care for everyone.
She is survived by her children, Daniel Hernandez (wife Elsa Hernandez), Diana Hernandez and George Balderas III (wife Melinda Balderas); her 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Elena’s light continues to shine through her family by remembering her loving caring nature, devotion to Jesus and her humor. Taking comfort in knowing she is at peace while singing and dancing in Heaven with her loved ones again.
Her spirit will continue to shine through in every aspect of our lives until we meet again.
You will Forever and Always be greatly missed, loved and cherished.
