Elena Valdez Hernandez
Our beloved mother and grandmother Elena Valdez Hernandez, 87 finished her earthly journey and passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
Elena was born on June 30, 1936, in San Antonio to Eduarda Baeza and Juan Valdez. At the age of 26 she married Jose Hernandez. Elena was preceded into Heaven by her beloved husband, Jose, son, Jesus Chavez, grandson, Danny Hernandez and great-grandson, Bryan Negrete Jr.
Elena was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother she enjoyed spending hours in her garden and praying. She loved her family fiercely and was always giving out advice as well as sharing how proud of her family she was. Elena will be remembered for her laugh, her honesty, and most of all her love.
Elena is survived by her children: Teresa DeJesus Borrego (Benito), Daniel Hernandez, David Hernandez (Anita), Diana Contreras (Jesse) and Delia Fernandez (Richard); grandchildren, Elizabeth Borrego (Carlo), Lori J. Borrego, Christina Chavez, Jesus Chavez, Jr. (Betty), Jose A. Hernandez (Marisol), Adrian Hernandez (Cassandra), Jacob A. Hernandez, Jennifer Hernandez, David Hernandez Jr. , Vanessa Hernandez, Janette Hernandez, Gianna N. Maldonado, Noah J. Contreras, Christian Y. Contreras, Richard Fernandez III, W. Diego Fernandez and Alejandro E. Fernandez; 21 great-grandchildren; and 3 great great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service for Elena V. Hernandez will be held at 5:00pm followed by the rosary at 6:00pm on Monday, October 30, 2023 at Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N. General McMullen, San Antonio, Tx 78228. The funeral procession will begin at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 31,2023 leading to San Fernando Cemetery #3.
