Elena R. Hernandez passed away in the early hours of February 10, 2021, after a long and painful battle with Alzheimer's. Elena lived all her life in San Antonio. She had the hardest job of being a housewife and stay at home mother of 6 children.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Tony J. Hernandez; and her beloved son, Tony Jr; her parents and all of her 8 siblings. She is survived by her 5 children, Patsy (Mario), Eddie, Diane, Danny and Charlie (Cristina); grandchildren, Roxanne, Becky, Roland, Johnny, Eddie Jr., Veronica, Mario II, Elizabeth, Marie, Debbie, Brittany, Jasmin, Alexis, Amada, Athena and Anthony; many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She had many hobbies: reading, gardening, sewing, cooking, baking and watching novelas. Most of all, she was known for her wonderful homemade flour tortillas, which she made fresh every day. Everyone who visited her house was ready to enjoy one of her delicious "been & chees tacos."

Elena "Grandma" will be greatly missed by all her family & friends.

Visitation will be held at Castillo Mission Funeral Home on Monday, March 15, 2021, from 3:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m. (80 people & Masks are REQUIRED)

Funeral Procession will depart the Funeral Home at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, for a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

The Funeral Procession will depart Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church after Mass, with an arrival at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11 a.m.  CAPACITY (50 people & Masks are REQUIRED)
