It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our new angel Elida R. Cortez. She entered eternal rest peacefully at home on November 18th,2024 at the age of 67. Elida R. Cortez was born on December 14,1956 in Lansing, Michigan to Luis and Guadalupe C. Ramos. She met and fell in love with her husband Santiago Cortez Sr. Together they had 3 children Betty Hernandez, Santiago Cortez Jr, and Paul Anthony Cortez. She loved her children so much and would do anything for them. She has a son-in-law, Juan M. Hernandez, she loved him as well.

Elida had a sweet and kind soul. She loved everyone. She was a person you could count on. Always happy, smiling, loved to dance, listen to music, just loved life.

She will be reunited with her beloved husband Santiago Cortez Sr, her parents Luis and Guadalupe Ramos, her siblings Luis Ramos, Frank Ramos, Martin Ramos, Gracie Ramos, Dora Perez, Rosa De Leon.

She was loved and will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and siblings: Grandchildren: Brenda Nicole Cortez, Julie Hernandez, Juan Hernandez JR, Angel Hernandez, Adam Hernandez, Paul Cortez JR (Noah), Natalie Cortez, Nathan Cortez, Nayeli Cortez, Israel Cortez. Siblings: Jose Ramos, David Ramos, and Maria Ramos. As well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends.

Heaven has gained our most beloved blessing. She will live forever in our hearts.

Visitation will take place at Castillo Funeral Home on Monday November 25th,2024 from 4PM to 8 PM with a rosary at 6PM.  Friends and family will depart in procession at 11:30AM on Tuesday November 26th,2024 for a 12:00 PM mass at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church burial to follow at San Jose Burial Park at 1:00PM.
