Eliseo G. Noriega
November 19, 1946 – August 2, 2021
Eliseo G Noriega, age 74, went to be with the Lord on August 2, 2021. Eliseo is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus M Noriega and Paula G Noriega; sisters, Pauline G Noriega and Josephine N Martinez; brothers, Jesse, John, Joel, Frank, and Michael Noriega; and brother-in-law, Raul B Medrano. He is survived by sisters, Gloria Noriega (Rudy Alvarado) and Rosie N Medrano; brothers, Joe (Rosa), Arthur (Dolores) and Jerry Noriega; and numerous nephews and nieces. Eliseo was a 1966 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School. He was drafted into the US Army and served from December 1966 to December 1969, which included a tour of duty in Vietnam, serving as a helicopter mechanic on missions. Upon completing his service to his country, Eliseo entered the San Antonio Police Training Academy, and became a San Antonio Police Officer, where he proudly stood ready and prepared to 'serve and protect' for 30 years. He made the difficult decision to take an early retirement, after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, which he bravely battled for over 20 years.
Eliseo was an excellent athlete, playing softball with the Noriega Brothers Softball team, and with SAPD softball teams, as well as playing basketball with the Noriega Brothers basketball team. Eliseo enjoyed watching the Houston Astros, the Dallas Cowboys, and the San Antonio Spurs, and loved to go fishing. The family would like to thank the staffs of Vitas Hospice San Antonio, the VA Hospital, Huebner Creek Health & Rehab Center, and Mr. Jason Rodriguez for tending to Eliseo's care. A very special thank you is also extended to Gloria Noriega and Rudy Alvarado for the selfless love, care and support they provided Eliseo for many years.
