Elodia Vera peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home on April 3, 2024, at the age of 80. She was born on February 24, 1944, to Erasmo and Margarita Valdez in Laredo Texas. She was preceded in death by her late husband Juan M. Vera of 15 years. They lived together in Panorama City California for 13 years before moving to Schertz, Texas where she lived the rest of her life in her same welcoming house. Elodia loved children and worked at "Mary's Little Lambs" childcare program and the nursery at First Baptist Church for 20 years. She would do anything to help anyone in need- family or not.
Elodia is also reunited in Heaven with her parents Erasmo and Margarita Valdez, her son Gilberto Vera, and her husband Juan Vera Jr.
Elodia is loved and will be missed greatly by her children Margarita V. Benson ( Bryan A. Benson), Ret. Navy Senior Chief Juan M. Vera III (Meagen Vera); grandchildren Brittney Dorman, Amanda Gonzales, Johnny Vera, Bryana Benson, Hailey Buehler, Miah Dunn, and Chantel Valdez; great grandchildren Chance Dorman, Chase Dorman, Peyton Gonzales, Chaz Dorman, Levi Gonzales, Nicholas Smith, Kaison Gonzales, Emma Buehler, Joel Dunn, and Cash Dunn; sisters Esther Carrizales and Evangelina Garza
Visitation to take place on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a service to begin at 6:00pm. Family and friends will meet at Calvary Cemetery at 3800 McPherson Rd. 78040 in Laredo, Texas on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 12:00pm for a Graveside Service.
