Elvira C. Garza

Elvira C. Garza, age 63, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026. She was born on April 11, 1963, and lived a life defined by love, hard work, kindness, and devotion to her family.

Elvira was the beloved wife of George Garza, with whom she shared 41 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a loving family and a lifetime of cherished memories. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Erica Arredondo (Ralph Arredondo) and Vanessa Barrera (Ruben Barrera), and a proud grandmother to Elissa, Sophia, George, Ralph, and Eliana, who brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her mother, Maria Castillo, and her siblings, Estella, Frank, Elida, Gabriel, Emily, and Sergio. She was preceded in death by her father, Gabriel Castillo.

Elvira was a hardworking and dedicated woman who spent 25 years working for Levi Strauss and 15 years serving the students and community of Harlandale ISD. She took pride in her work and was respected by all who knew her.

Family was at the center of Elvira’s life. She was a loving wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, and friend. She had a passion for baking and was known for making birthday cakes for her loved ones, always remembering each person’s favorite. She also enjoyed playing the lottery and never missed an opportunity for a scratch-off ticket, a game of bingo, or a round of lotería with family and friends.

Elvira’s warm heart, generous spirit, and unwavering love for her family touched countless lives. She will be remembered for her kindness, her sense of humor, and the joy she brought to those around her. Whether through a homemade cake, a family gathering, or simply being there when someone needed her, she made everyone feel loved.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the memories she gave us and the love she shared so freely. Her legacy will live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.
