Elvira D. Gomez passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on June 11 2026 at the age of 94.
She was born to Eduardo Deleon and Juanita Gomez on February 27, 1932.
Elvira was a devoted parishioner of St Alphonsus Catholic Church where she was a member of the Guadalupanas and organized annual pilgrimage trips to the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle National Shrine.
She was known for her political status as well as a member of LULAC, PTA President at Barkley Elementary, Precinct Judge in her district and supported numerous political candidates running for office.
Elvira opened and maintained a “Clothing Room” at Cooper Middle School to provide clothing, shoes and athletic gear for all the children in the community that were in need. She solicited local businesses to raise funds for the clothing room and church fundraisers.
She looked forward to her annual Birthday parties at the Royal Palace Ballroom filled with music and dancing.
Her hobbies included tending to her banana plants, roses, watching her beloved Dallas Cowboys and deep-sea fishing. She loved family events, including memorable family reunions that strengthened bonds across generations.
Elvira is survived by children Julian D. Gomez, Diana Hernandez (Pete), Paula Lopez, Sylvia Ingle (Mark).
A devoted mother and grandmother, Elvira leaves behind 12 Grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.
She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
She is proceeded in death by her loving husband Julian M. Gomez, her daughters Sylvia Ann Gomez, Josephine Alonzo and grandson Louis David Lopez Jr.
Community service was a great passion of hers, helping others in need.
Her greatest joy was her family. She had deep faith, kept her loved ones close to her heart and lifted them in prayer throughout her life.
May she now rest peacefully, reunited with her loving husband Julian.
