Elvira Lopez Ramos, 89, widow of Eugenio Ramos, died peacefully in her sleep Monday morning, January 30, 2023. She was born January 25, 1934, in San Antonio Texas, a daughter of the late Antonia and Guillermo Lopez.
Elvira and her husband were married in 1953, together they would embark on a journey of 35 years before his passing. She cherished her most perfect gifts from the Lord, her 9 children. Caring for her family brought her immense joy and satisfaction. As the family grew Elvira was always there to make each person feel special; always willing to babysit and care for those she loved. A faithful servant of the Lord, Elvira was a proud Guadalupana at St Jude Catholic Church. She was creative and loved arts and crafts. She was a wonderful cook who loved being in the kitchen making the family's favorites such as homemade tortillas or chicken mole, and deserts. A beloved wife, mother, and sister who will be loved and remembered forever.
In addition to her husband Eugenio Ramos who died 1987, she was also preceded in death by her parents, Antonia Alva and Guillermo Lopez, and family, Rosendo Lopez and Eustacio Lopez.
Family members include her children, Santa Olveda, Mary Helen Soriano (Paul), Jesse Ramos (Pat), Rachel Ramirez (Juan), Norma Espinoza, Gene Ramos (Maria), Edward Ramos (Josie), Cindy Casarez (Rudy), and Richard Ramos (Melissa); 31 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Miguel Alva; In-Laws, Terry Anguiano, Refugia De Leon, Alicia Reyes, Daniel Ramos, and Ruben Ramos; in addition to numerous extended family and friends.
Pallbears include Ray Olveda, Rudy Olveda, Michael Ramirez, Paul Soriano III, Jesse Ramos Jr, Alex Guerra, Ryan Casarez, Trey Ramos. Honorary pallbears include Juan Ramirez Jr and Matthew Soriano.
The family will receive guests from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Castillo Funeral Home for visitation. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm.
A funeral mass will be conducted at 9:30 am on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at St. Timothy Catholic Church. A committal Service will follow at Fort Sam National Cemetery at 11:00 am.
