Escamilla Sr.
July 11, 1930 – June 2, 2023
Enrique H. Escamilla, Sr., beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather, was called home by the Lord on June 2nd, 2023 at the age of 92. He was born July 11th, 1930 to Vicente Escamilla and Cleotilde Leonor Hernandez Badillo. He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Valentina Hernandez; daughters, Juana Maria De La Luz and Carmen Esthela; son Eduardo; sister, Esperanza Hernandez Escamilla Soto; brother-in-Law, Mauricio Soto Cruz; sister-in-law, Rosamaria Hernandez; brother-in-laws, Nicolas Godines Hernandez and Julian Nava Castillo; aunt Maria Del Jesus Rocha Garcia; and his maternal aunt that raised him Nieves Hernandez Badillo.
He is survived by his loving children daughters, Maria Isabel Graciela Escamilla Rush (Kenneth), Martha Elena Escamilla Marple (John); sons, Antonio H. Escamilla (Gloria B.) and Enrique H. Escamilla, Jr.; daughter-in-law Gloria L. Escamilla (+Eduardo); 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and sister-in-law Amparo Hernandez Nava. Also left to cherish his memory are numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members and friends.
Mr. Escamilla was a man of great faith. He was raised with a deep rooted strong base in Catholicism. Raised in San Luis Potosi, Mexico by aunt, Nieves. He would attend mass every Sunday where he absorbed the mass and liturgy that he could recite it verbatim. He practiced what he preached until the very end. His love and faithfulness to his marriage and his children was rooted in the holy teaching.
He was a proficiently skilled butcher for the San Antonio Meat and Apache Packing Company for a combination of 30yrs. Also known to be a hardworking man at times working 3 jobs to provide a roof over his family (7 children and his beloved wife), food, and clothing. He always gave sound advice: leave any concern, decision or situation in God's hands. A devote Catholic; he along with his wife of 60 years 10 months and 5 days paid tribute to Our Lady the Virgen of Guadalupe every 12th of December for the past 50 years.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 14th, 2023 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a rosary at 6:00pm at Castillo Funeral Home; 520 N. Gen. McMullen Dr.; San Antonio, Texas 78228; Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 15th, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Timothy Catholic Church; 1515 Saltillo St.; San Antonio, Texas 78207; Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II; 746 Castroville Rd.; San Antonio 78237.
