Mr. Erasmo M. Martinez Sr. passed away peacefully at home on October 6, 2026. He was 99 years and was born on April 9, 1927 in Lockhart Texas to Apolonio and Eva Martinez.Erasmo’s high school education was interrupted in May 1945 when, at just 17 years old, he volunteered to serve his country by joining the United States Navy during World War II. He proudly served in the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1953. He later received a Certificate of Equivalency for High School Achievement in 1963, completing an educational milestone that had been interrupted by his commitment to serving his country. On July 31, 1949, Erasmo married the love of his life, Pauline (Rodriguez) Martinez. They shared many years together until Pauline preceded him in death on February 18, 2000. Erasmo was a hardworking man who was deeply loved by his family and who, in return, loved them wholeheartedly. He had a passion for all flowers, trees and any greenery that God gave this earth. He loved his animals and particularly cherished his last companion Chiquita who gave him unconditional love. He made many friends throughout the years, many of whom preceded him in death. He had a long and healthy life and his wisdom will be greatly missed.Erasmo was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pauline; his parents, Apolonio and Eva Martinez; his daughter, Olga (Martinez) Harding; his grandson, Erasmo Antonio Martinez; his brothers, Daniel, Pedro, and Frank; and his sisters, Julia, Lola (Galvan), Dora (Juarez) and Felipa Moreno.Erasmo Martinez is survived by his sister, Emma Arriaga; his son, Erasmo Martinez Jr. (Rosario); his daughter, Sandra Mayes (Mark); Samuel Martinez; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will continue to cherish his memory.
