January 20, 1947 – July 8, 2024
Ernest Levine Medina (Popo) passed away peacefully on July 8,2024, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family. He was born January 20,1947 in San Antonio, Texas. He was 77 years old. He is reunited with his beloved wife Mary Medina. He was an exemplary man, dedicated to his family and friends.
Ernest completed up to his ninth year in education, when he boldly decided to enlist into the U.S. Navy. Ernest served two tours in the Vietnam war. He is a Vietnam Veteran which he proudly honored. When he returned home, he later retrieved his GED. He proceeded to become a successful business owner. He married his sweetheart, Mary Medina, who preceded him in death on January 8,2000. He was a beloved painter for most of his life. When Ernest wasn't working, you'd catch him in Kickapoo for the weekend. He cheered loud for the Dallas Cowboys every football season, sporting his Cowboys gear! He immensely enjoyed the beautiful memories he created with his family and friends throughout his 77 years on this earth. He will be missed tremendously.
Ernest is also preceded in death by his parents, Carlos Medina, and Rosa Levine Medina, and beloved sister Gloria Valadez, and brother Louis Medina. Ernest is survived by his siblings Carlos Medina III, Josie Jimenez, Rose Marie Martinez, Linda Medina, Antonio Medina, Peggy Estrada, Mike Medina, Daniel Medina, Mark Dennis Medina, and Nancy Hernandez.
He is survived by his children Ernest Medina Jr., Vincent Medina, and Tamara Gracia. His grandchildren Vincent Medina Jr, Nathaniel Luna, Genevieve Medina, Alandra Luna, Starr Medina, Amanda Medina, and Analina Medina. Great- Grandchildren Jasper Valdez, Noah Escobar, and Samuel Escobar.
A celebration of life will be held at Castillo Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Rosary service 6:00 p.m. Mass will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 9:30am, followed by Internment at San Fernando Catholic Cemetry III
