Obituary

Ernesto (Ernie) Loreo Barron passed in peace on Monday, December 11, 2023 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was 79 years young.
Ernie was born on November 2, 1944 on the Westside of San Antonio to Francisco and Josefina Barron. A man ingrained with humility and dignity from the very beginning, he always remained proud of his roots and where he came from. The sixth of seven children, he often looked after his younger sister Eva, caring for her, offering guidance and support and fulfilling his role of the older brother with unconditional love till his final days.

Ernie had an infectious passion for helping others. Often called on for advice when your car wasn't running properly, or when you were having trouble getting an appliance to work, or in countless other instances, he was always at the ready to offer his time and knowledge. He was simply the man you would call on when you were in need, for just about anything. From a very young age as a standout athlete, he harbored a passion for sports and cars that he shared and passed on to anyone willing to listen. His dedication to his favorite teams was surpassed only by his dedication to his family. He was an exceptionally proud grandpa and lit up when surrounded by his grandkids, making numerous trips throughout the years to visit those living in Georgia. An avid runner as well, he defied odds by crossing the finish line at multiple 5K's, 10K's and even a Half Marathon at the age of 78.

He is preceded in passing by his oldest son Christopher Anthony Barron and he will be profoundly missed by his wife of 43 years Maria Delores Barron, his daughter Stephanie Barron, son Vincent Barron, son-in-law Anthony Henri and his daughter-in-law Darlene Galvan. The role of Grandpa was one that Ernie never took lightly and fulfilled with boundless love and affection. For that, he will be dearly missed by his grandsons Christian, Jakob, Phillip, DJ, Maddoux and his granddaughter Harley.

Visitation will take place at Castillo Funeral Home on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 4:00pm- 8:00pm with a Rosary at 6:00pm. Family and friends will depart in procession at 9:00am for a 10:00am Mass at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Services to conclude after Mass.
