Obituary

Ervin Dennis Kocian, 72, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025. He was born on September 23, 1952,in Wharton Texas to the late Emanuel  Kocian and Lottie Bujnoch Kocian, number ten of eleven children.

Ervin was a beloved brother, father, uncle, husband, and grandfather. He was also a devoted Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs fan, never missing a game and always cheering on his team with pride. In his young years growing up on the farm he loved hunting, fishing, and being in the fields. He was a machinist at WKM in Stafford Texas for many years until he returned to farming full time for Gavranovic Farms in Burr Texas.  He settled in San Antonio Texas with his wife Gloria. His life was a testament to love, hard work, and faith. He touched the lives of many with his sense of humor, leaving behind cherished memories for those blessed to know him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, C.J. Kocian, George Kocian, Leroy Kocian, Sr., Emanuel Kocian and wife Betty; his brother-in-law, Floyd Gulling; and his sister, Leona Boone, and husband Henry.

Ervin is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Gloria Kocian; his stepsons, Mark and John Jimenez and grandson Remy; his daughter, Renee Kocian, and her four children, Cameron, Samari, Sasha, and Jaiden; his son, Justin Kocian, wife Melissa Kocian, and their two children, Michael and Jason. Sisters, Theresa Hundl and husband Gilbert of Wharton, Katherine Paul of East Bernard, Mary Machicek and husband, Joe of Shiner, Gladys Machicek of Shiner, Joan Gulling of Bedias, Sisters in law,Sophia Kocian and  Delores Kocian of Wharton,also numerous nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a legacy filled with warmth, laughter, and the invaluable lessons of love and friendship.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N. General McMullen, San Antonio, TX. A prayer service will begin at 6:00 p.m. All commemorative services will conclude Thursday evening.

Ervin's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends!
