On February 22, 2021, Esperanza Garza Hernandez passed away in her home, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 89.

Esperanza was preceded in death by her Husband of 55 years Espiririon Hernandez, her sons Espiririon Jr and Pedro Hernandez. She is survived by her children Helen, Amalia (Rey), Mary Ann, Diana, Ruben and Willie, siblings Jose (Clara) Garza, Yolanda (Joe) Montez, Sister in Law Angela Arce, Niece Irma Martinez and her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Esperanza or "Hope" as she was known to many, was born in San Antonio, TX on June 3, 1931 to Senovio and Consuelo Garza. Hope never let anyone leave her home without eating first, the occasional good scolding and a hug on the way out. Her favorite pastimes were dancing, gardening, shopping at JCPenney and Walmart, adding to her large shoe and purse collection, Pedro Infante movies, a good action film with Steven Segal in it, watching Wheel of Fortune and going to the mall to visit her secret younger crush - Tony the Jeweler (who must have been smitten because he never charged her for any repairs). Hope was always a charmer. She loved God, music, dancing and her family.

Visitation will take place on Monday, March 22, 2021 from 3:30pm until 7:30pm with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00pm. Family and friends will depart in procession from Castillo Mission Funeral Home at 9am on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 for a 10am Mass at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
