Esther R. Guzman passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. She was 90 years old, born in San Antonio, Texas on May 4, 1933.

Esther served as a waitress at Casa Rio along the Downtown Riverwalk for 27 years before retiring as a caregiver for her grandchildren. Her life was a testament to the belief that true joy is found in the service of others.

Esther was a cherished member of our large family. Her genuine honesty, infectious laughter, and unyielding work ethic touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She was a beacon of resilience and determination known for her commitment to providing for and supporting her family.

Esther raised a beautiful and loving family, who will forever be inspired by her hardworking spirit, love, and perseverance. She is survived by 6 children: Ruben Muñoz (Lisa), Manuel R. Guzman II (Lisa), Ernest R. Guzman (Sara), Armando R. Guzman (Martha), Norma Guzman Flores, and Alex R. Guzman (Jeanette); 3 sisters, Gabina Hernandez, Olivia Caldero, and Angelita Ortiz; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Though we mourn the loss of Esther (our mother), we find comfort in knowing that her legacy of strength, love, laughter, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her soul rest in eternal peace as she walks on the streets of gold.

Esther is preceded in death by her parents Encarnacion Rodriguez and Antonia G. Rodriguez; her brothers Asencion and Juan Rodriguez; her children Sylvia, Raymond, Ralph, and Elvia Guzman; and granddaughter, Sylvia Marie Guzman.
