Evangelina Gonzales Chapa, 79, a widow of the late Juan Adolfo Chapa Sr. passed away Thursday morning (December 22, 2022) in The Rio at Mission Trails. She was born on September 17, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas, a daughter of the late Helena Flores and Jose Gonzales.

Evangelina enjoyed a plentiful life and prior to losing her husband and sons, Juan Jr. and Jesse, they enjoyed many wonderful moments together. She and her husband sold tools at the flea market and would spend free time watching sports and fishing together. She and her youngest son attended antique truck shows together. Evangelina enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as great conversation, meals with those she knew, and listing to Tejano music and enjoying a cold beer. Always remembered by those who knew her.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she was also preceded in death by her two sons, Juan Adolfo Chapa Jr, and Jesse Albert Chapa; a sister, Cruz Garcia; and a brother, Micheal Garcia.

Family members include siblings, Mary Shaw, Estella Garcia, Jaine Saucedo, Roger Sanchez, Guadalupe Sanchez, Rosario Alcaraz, Paul Garcia, and Johnny Garcia; nieces and nephews, Pedro Lozano, Vince Lozano, Sydel Lozano, Shantel Trust, Mary Jane Ander Kerrie, Diane Ruiz, Susan Wayne, Ralph Ruiz, Jamie Shaw, Victor Alonzo, Bianca Bergamine, Caroline Bergamine, Tillie Sanchez, Nina Sanchez, Marline Sanchez; in addition to numerous extended family and friends.

The family will receive guests for visitation from 3:30 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Castillo Funeral Home with a Rosary Service beginning at 6 pm.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 am Friday, January 6, 2023, at San Fernando II Cemetery.
