Evangelino
Zuniga
March 22, 1936 – September 24, 2020
Evangelino Zuniga took his final breath on Thursday September 24th, 2020 at 01:25 am. He died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born on March 22, 1936 in Buena Vista Hidalgo, Mexico.
Early in his life he enlisted in the Mexican Military from there he served as a police officer. It was during this time that God called him to follow a different path, that of spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. Once he completed his seminary education, he travelled throughout Mexico with his God fearing heart and compassionate soul to spread the good News of Jesus Christ and to help others in need. Through his missionary travels he met his wife Irma Zuniga and fell madly in love. After they married, they moved to the states, where they eventually settled in San Antonio, TX. He served as a pastor and a missionary. He was passionate about helping community members in the rural areas of Buena Vista, Hildalgo, Mexico. He was able to establish a mission in Ixmiquilpan, Hildalgo, Mexico. Throughout the years he was able to build a church and school, along with several homes in those communities. He also spearheaded drives annually where he was able to allocate food, school supplies, money and resources to support those community initiatives. Helping others was the motto he lived by until his health no longer allowed him the ability to do so.
He was a kind and generous man; doting father and grandfather. He loved playing his guitar, enjoyed hearing his children play music, and immersing himself in studies of the bible. You would catch him in the evenings watching Discovery and Nat Geo with his wife, and football on Sunday. He was a big animal lover, it didn't matter if it was a dog, cat, horse, he would go out of his way to help animals in need. He was welcoming and always extended the hospitality of his home. He made everybody laugh with jokes and made everybody feel safe with his words of wisdom and unconditional love. He will always be missed.
Evangelino is preceded in death by his sister Maria Zuniga.
Evangelino is loved and will be missed by wife Irma Zuniga, his daughter Elizabeth Zuniga-Coker and son in law Richard Coker, Daughters Raquel Zuniga, Rebeca Zuniga, and his son Javier Zuniga and daughter in law Maricela C. Zuniga and his three grandchildren Grace, Timothy and Seth Zuniga. His faithful companion Cotton Ball, extended family and friends.
