Honoring the Life of Felicitas "Dinky" Luna

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Felicitas "Dinky" Luna, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and a cherished member of our community. Dinky passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on November 6, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas, she lived a life dedicated to the arts, family, and service to others, leaving an enduring legacy that will never be forgotten.

Dinky's journey in the world of dance began in 1945 at the Guadalupe Community Center, where she first taught under the mentorship of the Sisters of Incarnate Word. For more than six decades, she inspired countless students, sharing her passion for Mexican culture and tradition through the art of dance. Her commitment to her craft touched generations, and her influence extended far beyond the dance floor. It was at the Guadalupe Community Center that Dinky met her loving husband, Gilberto Luna, a proud WWII Veteran, who passed away in 1976. Over the years, this center became a special place of lasting memories for everyone who was lucky enough to know her.

A graduate of Sidney Lanier High School in 1950, Dinky was further supported by the Sisters of Incarnate Word, who helped her pursue higher education at the University of the Incarnate Word. With their encouragement, she deepened her education and passion for the arts, which became a lifelong mission. Dinky was a devout Catholic and a steadfast believer in the power of community. Her love for dance was only rivaled by her devotion to her family and friends. Later in life, she continued to touch the lives of others by helping seniors express themselves through dance and art, bringing joy to those who needed it most.

Dinky survived by her siblings Manuel and Marylou. By her beloved children, Carmen (Robert), John (Jeannie), Terry (Andrew) as well as her treasured grandchildren, Darlene (Aaron), Robert (Elizabeth), Steven (Sunny), Amanda(Anthony), Jennifer (Henry), Johnny (Alexandrea), and great-grandchildren, Isabella, Anabella, Nathan, Jonathan, Aiden (Myrah), Emma, Alanah ,Dominic, Vivienne, Aniyah, Aaliyah, Azayla, Izabelle, Noah, Adahlia, Lyllian, Anthony and great-great grandson Isaiah who will carry on her legacy of love, creativity, and community.
