Obituary

Felix U. Arellano was called into the Lord's arms on February 2, 2024, at the blessed age of 83. Felix was born on January 23, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas to the late Candido and Aurelia Arellano. Felix was the youngest of 8 children. After graduating from Fox Tech Highschool, Felix was a singer in a band and then joined the military and served in the Army and then the National Guard. He worked at Kelly AFB as a Civil Service Supervisor in the aircraft hangers for many years and retired at the early age of 55. During that time Felix and his loving Wife, Elva, also owned two restaurants, "The Main Gate", located at the main gate of Kelly AFB, and "The Main Gate 2" on the 8000 block of Culebra Road. Felix loved animals, especially cats and dogs, and had numerous meaningful pets throughout his life. Felix loved to spend time on the Coast. He took his children to Port Aransas every Spring Break and Summer. He enjoyed fishing and just being by the water. One of his favorite pastimes was to spend time out at the house in Rockport, Tx with his nephews, relaxing and having a few cold ones. Felix was also a devout member at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Felix and his wife helped start the church back in the early 80's when Mass took place at Carlos Coon Elementary School before the current church was built. He served as the head usher for many, many years at the 12:30 mass, volunteered at the Rock House, and helped lead some of the A.C.T.S. yearly retreats. Besides his involvement with the Church, Felix also helped with his High School reunion committee. He helped with the fundraising events like barbeques and dances to help raise money for scholarships for Fox Tech Graduates.
In 1992, his first and only grandchild was born, and recently he was able to meet his only great-grandchild just a month before his passing. He will truly be missed by so many…
Felix is reunited with his beloved Wife of 53 years Elva, daughter Sonia Arellano, parents Candido and Aurelia Arellano, sisters Candida A. Ramirez, Gregoria A. Vargaz, and Leonor A. Gomez, brothers Joe Arellano and Tom Reyes. Felix is survived by his loving daughter Lydia A. Lopez, and loving son Ruben Arellano (Melissa); granddaughter Gabrielle N.
