Fernando "Nando" Chavarria

March 3, 1938 - January 13, 2021

Preceded in death by his parents Jose Chavarria, Ramona De La Cruz, brother David Chavarrria, his beloved wife of 55 years Rose Canedo Chavarria, and son Rodney "Bubba" Sanchez

Father of 6 children, Linda S. Tomasini, Rodney "Bubba" Sanchez (Lisa Decker), Adrian Sanchez (Susan), Regina C. Brooks (Mark), Gabriel Chavarria (Dolores), Lorinda C. Benavides, (Jode Sanchez) 19 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great-Great Granddaughter; and his loyal lab and companion Woody.

Our beloved father served his Lord Jesus Christ as a parishioner of St. Henry's Catholic Church, a member and officer of the Knights of Columbus- 3 rd Degree 11342; he served his country with honors in the United States Navy on the carrier Yorktown- CVS-101959, and retired from Kelly AFB in 1978 after 29 years.

A loving and simple man, who loved his family unconditionally, worked extra jobs to provide without ever a complaint; a gentle and kind hearted man who expressed and demonstrated his love by devoting and caring for his "Chava" our mother who battled Alzheimer for 13 years.  Our father was a selfless man, patience was one of his greatest characteristics as he demonstrated patiently feeding our mother and waiting for her smile. He truly honored his vows "in sickness and in health, till death do us part".  Always so attentive to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at family gatherings, he also had a very dry sense of humor that brought us many laughs.  His only outside hobby was genealogy, which he shared with each of us and the importance of knowing our ancestry. Dad took notes for everything.

Our father was our Hero; our Rock and he will forever live within each of us.  Thank you Dad, for always telling and showing us how much you loved each us. And for taking time to tell each of us how proud you were of our accomplishments.
