Florinda V. Chavers passed away on June 17, 2022.

Florinda was born on September 5, 1952, in San Antonio Texas. She attended Jefferson High School and graduated in 1972. Florinda and her late husband Charles had two children: a son Carlos L. Chavers and daughter, Cynthia A. Chavers. She was a long-time member of the Jehovah's Witnesses along with her family. Florinda was employed with City Public Service for the city of San Antonio for over 30 years. She was an avid reader, loved films and trips to the theaters, and listening to oldies especially Jazz and Country. Florinda enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; great conversations, making someone smile, feeling hopeful for the future of those she knew.

She inspired those around her to be better individuals. Her capacity for generosity knew no bounds. She was someone who would help anyone in need with support, encouragement, and guidance. Florinda loved when family and friends got together. Those times exist in our memories and will be cherished forever. We loved her caring ways, she will be immensely missed, and her memory will live on. Your shared memories, comforting condolences and gestures of love are truly appreciated.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Chavers; parents, Josephine V. Valdez and Gabriel Valdez Sr; son, Carlos Chavers; siblings, Henry Valdez and Virginia Polanco; and niece, Rachel Cantu.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia A. Chavers (Billy); grandchildren, Brandamere Allen (Eric) and Christopher Chavers; great grandchildren, Equan Thompson and Eyannah Thompson; siblings, Gabriel Valdez Jr (Evelia), Julia Rodriguez (Luis) and Genevieve Cantu.

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Manuel Cantu, Richard Cantu, Brenda Cantu, Marcelo Hernandez, Antonio Hernandez, Josephine Hernandez, Gabriel Valdez III, Ralph Valdez, and Ruben Valdez, in addition to numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Castillo Funeral Home from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A service will be held in the Castillo Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 1, 2022, at 10:00 am with interment to follow at San Fernando II Cemetery. Please donate to the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.
