Frances S. Lozano
Frances S. Lozano passed away surrounded by her family and entered into our heavenly Fathers kingdom on July 3, 2026. She was 88 years old. She was born in Sonora, Texas, on July 30, 1937, to her parents, Frank Salinas and Pauline Soto Salinas.
Frances dedicated her life to teaching and fostering young minds for over 40 years. She retired her long illustrious career with Edgewood Independent School District in their ESL Program. She loved working with “her kids” and treated each one of them as her own. Her favorite time of the school year was during Fiesta, primarily because she loved helping the kids with their shoe-box floats for the yearly school parade. Every holiday allowed her the opportunity to exhibit her creative side and make beautiful memories for her class, co-workers and families. She always went above and beyond not just for the kids but was proud to represent the love she had for her school, culture and community.
Frances was a women of deep faith and took strength in her strong Catholic values. She was a very active member of St. John Berchman Church. She was a member of the Guadalupanas and was a past president of the organization. She had a strong belief in their mission and found a core group of ladies who were like minded who became life-long friends. You would find when Frances wasn’t with her family, she was volunteering at church. While at church, she was typically in the church kitchen, helping to raise money, or cleaning the church. She was well known by so many parishioners, staff and clergy and will be missed by all.
Despite the love of her job and devotion to her church community, what brought Frances the largest joy was her family. She married her high school sweetheart and remained married until his passing. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren filled her life with love, tenderness and admiration. She was an amazing mother. The close relationship she had with each of her children is a clear indication that she was the center of the family. She loved to celebrate every milestone with her family but was also there to comfort her children in the face of tragedy. She was the backbone and epicenter of the entire family. She was a huge Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs fan.
Frances is proceeded in death by her husband, Johnny Lozano Sr., sons, Johnny Lozano Jr., Roland Lozano; daughter Sandra L. Garza; sisters, Lupe Noriega and Joyce S. Rosales.
She will be missed and never forgotten by her daughters, Sylvia Joyce Ochoa of Katy, Texas, and Nelda L. Peacock (David Price-Gore), 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
