Frances Garcia Puryear (1941-2021)

Frances Garcia Puryear, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend was called home to be with Our Lord and Savior on March 17, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas.

Frances was born on May 5, 1941 in San Antonio to Ventura Garcia and Calletana Garcia. After she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1959, she lived in Washington D.C. for a brief time before she returned to San Antonio, where she worked to take care of her family and raise her two daughters. She was a dedicated, loving mother whose sacrifices will forever be remembered.  Frances retired from the United States Department of Defense, Defense Finance and Accounting Service, after 30 years of faithful service.

Above everything, she loved our Almighty God for the blessings he bestowed upon her throughout her lifetime. She often spoke about visiting heaven when she was a young girl, after she fell into a coma. God told her that "it was not her time yet, but she will be back." She was called back to the kingdom of heaven to be with Our Heavenly Father, and her loved ones called before her.

Frances is preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Carmen and Paula; and brothers: Roy, Juan, Jesse, and Antonio. Frances is survived by her loving children: Jeanne Morriss and her husband, Geoffrey, and Karen Hardin and her husband, Whit; grandchildren, Alyssa, Kate, Emma, Tana and Cara; and many extended family and friends.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will not be a funeral service. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns of San Antonio. She truly valued their prayers and encouragement.
