Frances Y. Olmos (Francisca), passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026 surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. She was born on March 9, 1943 in Fentress, Texas to Pilar and Faustina Yanes. She was the second oldest of five children. Frances graduated from Edgewood High School. While in high school, she met the love of her life, Raul G. Olmos. They married on September 27, 1964 and their love story began. Together they were blessed with three beautiful children: Elizabeth Christine, Carol Ann, and Raul Jr. who will carry her love in their hearts.
Frances loved her family dearly; she had numerous nieces and nephews who considered her like a second mother. From birthday parties, to weddings and family get togethers she was always ready to celebrate and enjoy time with the people she loved. She had a servant’s heart and showed her love through cooking. She was famously known for her Mexican rice and chicken mole- two dishes that were always requested by family and friends.
Throughout her early life, she worked at Farah Slacks, which later became Levi’s Strauss. She then found her true passion as a teacher’s aide working in Edgewood Independent School District. During her thirty-eight years at EISD, she built lasting friendships and memories that will last a lifetime while touching the lives of countless students. She was patient, nurturing and dedicated, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and compassion in every classroom she served.
Frances was a women built of strength. In 1998 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Shortly after that, she underwent a procedure for a double mastectomy. During this challenging time, her faith grew even stronger. She prayed the rosary daily and read her Bible nightly. Her unwavering trust in God carried her through life’s trials and became a powerful example to her family.
Frances’ life was a reflection of love, faith, resilience, and devotion. She found joy in the simple moments—family dinners, laughter with grandchildren, great grandchildren, and quiet prayers in the early mornings. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her heart always generous. She leaves behind a legacy of faith and family that will live on through her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, and all who were blessed to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, we find comfort knowing she is reunited in eternal peace and resting in the arms of our Lord.
Frances is proceeded in death by her husband Raul, her parents Pilar Yanes and Faustina Gil Yanes, her sisters, Ester, Otilia, Mary Ann, her brother, Robert, grandson, Robert Andrew, and son-in-law, Aaron.
Frances is loved and will be missed by her daughters Elizabeth Martinez (Robert) and Carol Viagran (Aaron, deceased); son Raul Jr.; grandchildren Ashley and Kevin Martinez, Sophia, Isabella and Gabriella Viagran, Ashton and Ryan Olmos; three great grandchildren Zane Mason, Owen and Mila Martinez; sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly.
