Gilbert Casanova Jr, 68, went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2023. He was born on September 5, 1955, in San Antonio, Texas, a son of the late Olivia and Gilbert Casanova Sr.

He was a 1974 Edgewood High School graduate and attended San Antonio College. Prior to his retirement he was employed at Coca Cola in the Snappy Snack division. His interests included watching sports, billiards and loved classic old movies.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by two sons, Michael Casanova and Mark Casanova; four sisters, Virginia C. Cantu, Joann C. Saenz, Diana C. Gutierrez and Veronica C. Palomo.

Family members include a daughter, Jennifer Casanova; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous extended family members.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Castillo Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm for visitation and at 6:00 pm for a Rosary Service.

A funeral mass will be conducted on Friday, January 12, 2024, in San Martin de Porres Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
