Gilbert Bernal
Perez
February 2, 1938 – March 2, 2020
Gilbert Bernal Perez departed from this earth peacefully on March 2, 2020, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 82 years old and was born on February 2, 1938. Gilbert served proudly in the United States National Guard. On August 28, 1960, he was lucky enough to marry his middle school sweetheart, Dolores Arcos Perez. Gilbert worked at St. Mary's University in Electrical Maintenance and retired in 2004. Some of his favorite things were playing bingo, traveling and spending time with his family. He loved nothing more than having his children and grandchildren over to visit. He looked forward to every holiday, with Easter being his favorite. He enjoyed making cascarones, especially creating his own unique confetti to fill them. Gilbert truly was a humble and selfless man. Anyone who knew him knows he would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He was a joy to be around and any time spent with him was filled with laughter. He always treasured every beautiful memory made with family and friends. Gilbert had a strong faith in God and a love for him that could not be broken. He will be missed immensely. Gilbert is preceded in death by his son, Roland A. Perez, grandson, Gilbert Anthony Perez, father, Santiago Perez, mother Enriqueta Perez, sister, Sophia Alcala, brothers, Santiago Perez Jr., Victor Perez, and Santana Perez Sr. Gilbert is loved and will be missed dearly by his son, Gilbert A. Perez (Ernestina), daughters, Leticia Garcia (Louie Sr.), Cynthia A. Martinez (Salvador), daughter-in-law Rose Perez, and his siblings Ernestina Valadez (Richard), Jesusa Rubio (Nicolas), Rudy Perez, Aurelia Alvarado (Tomas), Cedellia Moreno (Tony), Graciela Glazer, Linda Bonilla (Clemente), Mary Perez (Piedad Villa), Robert Perez (Cynthia), and Joe Perez. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and countless brother in-laws and sister in-laws, all of who he was extremely proud of and loved dearly.
