Gilbert Sanchez, age 78, loving husband, and adoring father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away in the early hours of Monday 19 ^th of September 2022.

Born on November 15 ^th , 1943, he was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, nephew, and grandsons.

Gilbert was a Vietnam veteran, a talented artist of restoring antiques, and creating stain glass windows. He was a jack of all trades when it came to repairing anything from the home to the car, to training a dog.

He appreciated the beauty in life and will be missed dearly. We know that we can not have him anymore, but knowing that the angels have carried him to rest and peace is what we find comfort in.

Gilbert will be greatly missed and is survived by his wife and best friend of 30 years, Maria Elena Sanchez; Daughter Brenda Sheldon & Son-in-law Thomas Sheldon, and their children, Tammy Sheldon, Heather Quick, and Ashley Sheldon; Daughter Melinda Martinez & Son-in-law Christopher Martinez, and their children, April Deleon, Christopher Gorby, Richard Sanchez, Giovanni Sanchez, Celeste Martinez, Cowboy Martinez; Stepdaughter, Cynthia Silva & Daughter-in-law Sabrina Pang; Great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 4th, 2022 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with a rosary to be recited at 6:00pm. Family and friends will meet at Christ the King Catholic Church on Wednesday October 5th, 2022 at 9:15am for a 9:30am Funeral Mass. Following Mass, we will leave in procession to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for an 11:15am graveside service with military honors.
