Gilberto Ibarra, 61, died on Wednesday afternoon (January 4, 2023) at his residence in San Antonio Texas, surrounded by family. He was born October 18, 1961, in San Antonio, Texas, a son of Gillermo and Sulema Villa Ybarra.

Gilberto enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; great conversation, making someone smile, and feeling hopeful for the future of those he cared about. A generous man, he was already ready to help anyone in need with support, encouragement, and guidance. A loving, son, father, and grandfather who will be loved and remembered forever.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gilberto Ybarra Jr aka 'Porky' and his siblings, Carmen Villa and Gloria Ybarra.

In addition to his parents, Gillermo and Sulema Villa Ybarra, family members also include children, Bertha Ybarra, Crystal Ybarra, and Johnny Medina 'BJ'; grandchildren, Emmy Gomez, Abby Rangel, Hopie Rangel, Ali Ybarra, Liam Rubio, Angel Ybarra; great grandchildren, Emma'lyn Gomez, Obadiah Gomez, Avery Garcia, and Ana Reynoso; siblings, Mary Ann Ybarra, Olga Rodriguez, Sulema Rodriguez, Norma De La Rosa, Sylvia Carderon Ybarra, Delia Arroyo, and Beatrice Mireles; in addition to numerous extended family and friends.

The family will receive guests from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Castillo Funeral Home for Visitation with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 pm.

A funeral mass will be conducted at 11:30 am on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at St Jude Catholic Church. Burial will follow at San Fernando III Catholic Cemetery.
