Obituary

Gilbert V Natal, 77, passed away on September 2, 2024.  He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed.

Gilbert was born on June 3, 1947, in San Antonio, where he spent his life.  He was a graduate of Edgewood High School, Class of 1966. Gilbert then spent 2 years in the Army, 1966-1968, after being drafted during the Vietnam War Era. Once honorably discharged from the Army, he went on to become sole proprietor of La Colonia Grocery and later P&G Sales in the Westside of San Antonio.  Throughout his career, he was known for his big sense of humor and his big heart among business vendors, employees, and neighbors.

In his free time, Gilbert enjoyed trips to Lockhart with his family, spending time with his siblings, calling his primos and tias, going to the YMCA and watching Gunsmoke.

Gilbert is survived by his loving wife, Rachel R. Natal, his children, Ernest E. Natal, Emilia R Natal, Irene N Bustillos, Anthony Garza, siblings, Delia Valverde, Herlinda Moreno, Manuel Natal and grandchildren, and great grandchild.  He is preceded in death by parents, Santiago G Natal, Emilia V Natal and eldest son Gilbert R Natal.  His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on September 15, 2024 at Mission Castillo Funeral Home, 520 N General McMullen from 4-8 pm.  Military Honors will be presented at 5:00 pm with a Service led by Pastor Lira from Liberty Baptist Church at 6:00 pm.
