Gina Marie
Marin
October 4, 1971 – January 10, 2024
Gina Marie Marin (née DeSoto) was born on October 4, 1971, in San Antonio, TX to Jesse and Adelina DeSoto. Gina grew up in many different towns in several states with her 3 brothers, Mark, Jesse Jr, Daniel, and her sister, Elizabeth. As the older sister, Gina always seemed to have a very caring and nurturing sense about her.
Naturally, with her love of children, Gina began her career in early childhood development soon after High School and continued it throughout her career spanning 30 years. Starting in the daycare industry, Gina went on to get her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Development. With her degree she worked at Headstart and ultimately retired from PCI in October of 2022.
Through mutual friends, Michael talked to Gina for the first time (on the phone back then) on his birthday in May of 1995 and met her face to face one month later. They were married on June 18, 2001. From that day forward they never left each other's side. Together they welcomed a son, Alexander Christian Marin, on March 16, 2006. And as you can imagine, Gina was over the moon to finally have a child of her own. She cherished Alex and was always his biggest cheerleader.
Gina's love for children was nothing short of amazing to say the least. She always showered her nieces and nephews with lots of love and affection.
Gina was a gentle soul with the kindest heart. She always put everyone before herself and was the first to give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. She greeted everyone with a smile whether you walked through her door, or she walked through yours.
If you knew Gina, you knew she was a true Mickey Mouse fan as well as all things Disney. She always said she was the happiest when she was at The Happiest Place on Earth, Disneyworld. A true Disneyworld connoisseur, she knew every ride, attraction, and restaurant. So many of us were lucky to have been able to share this joy with her. She had her last Disney trip in March of 2023 with her husband, son, nieces, and in-laws. It was the trip of a lifetime as family was able to join her at her "Happy Place" to celebrate her son's 17th birthday.
On January 10, 2024, an unknown illness took Gina away from those who loved her. She was taken too soon and without warning. Although we will miss her forever, we will cherish every moment we were gifted with her presence.
Gina Marin is preceded in death by her father Jesse DeSoto and her brother Mark DeSoto. She is survived by her husband Michael Marin and their son Alexander. She is also survived by her mother Adelina DeSoto; brothers Jesse Jr (Rachel) and Daniel; sister Elizabeth Castillo (Charlie); nephews and niece, Cornelio, Imelda (aka Diva), Alias and Denzyl. On her husband's side Father/Mother in Law Alfonso (Alma); Brother in law Mark (Victoria), Sister in law Michelle and nieces Courtney, Solena and Kayla; and many extended family members and friends. We will all forever love and miss her dearly.
