Gladys R De Hoyos, 96, wife of Juan De Hoyos, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in San Antonio Texas. She was born on April 10, 1927, in San Antonio Texas, a daughter of the late Aurelio Jasso Rodriguez and Juanita C. Rodriguez.

Gladys is known for her strength and is a woman who walked by faith. She accomplished much in life because of the hard work and dedication she put into all she did. She was caring, loving, and had a special quality that made each person she knew feel special. Gladys was artistic and creative, she brought to life things you wouldn't think had artistic qualities, she loved to sew and cook, especially her famous dishes like menudo and tamales. She loved a life of faith and enjoyed being a part of the St Jude Community Center. Gladys always said, "Si Dios Quiere" (Gods will) and she applied those words into every aspect of her life. She will be missed but know we shall be reunited once again.

In addition to her parents, Aurelio Jasso Rodriguez and Juanita C. Rodriguez, she is also preceded in death by Jesse Gonzales and Sylvia Almendadez.

Family members include her husband of 54 years, Juan Antonio De Hoyos; children, Freddie Gonzales, Robert Gonzales, Leslie Gonzales, Leticia Bledsoe, and Juan Antonio De Hoyos Jr; 14 grandchildren, Chuey, Ernanii, Natalie, Tammy, Waneya, Crystal, Leslie Jr, Robert Jr, Adrian, Matthew, John, Isaac, Jonah, and Hailey; 13 great grandchildren, Mercedes, Alexandra, Arianna, Ernani Jr, Santana, Savanah, Cheyenne, Erick Renee, Amare, Ryan, Ryder, Meadow, and Maxwell; 9 great greatgrandchildren, Nevah, Victor, Michael, Armani, Miracle, Kaymia, Mila, Ezra, and Sofia.

Additional family includes a sister, Julia; nieces and nephews, Ray, Mercy, Belinda, Tisha, Ricky, and Leo; in addition to numerous extended family and friends.

The family will receive guests on Friday, July 28, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm for visitation at Castillo Funeral Home. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm during visitation.
