Gloria J. Salas was born and raised in San Antonio. She attended Blessed Sacrament Academy and graduated in 1962. After 25 years of service, she retired from Dillard's.
Gloria loved endlessly. She is survived by her husband, Antonio W. Salas, to whom she was married for 60 years. She is also survived by her daughters Belinda S. Cruz and Lisa A. Rodriguez and son Antonio Salas, III.
Gloria had a number of exceptional qualities. She was an outstanding cook; demonstrated patience, keen listening, and abundant care and love for her family; and possessed a subtle sense of humor and giving heart. She cared for and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren beyond measure. Before she was unable, she took care of her twin great granddaughters Ella and Quinn and great grandson Liam. Doing so was her greatest joy.
Gloria enjoyed a number of hobbies. She traveled, especially to a casino, where she could pull the slot machines. She liked to dine out and attend cookouts and any kind of gathering involving her family. She also liked watching sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and Houston Astros.
Gloria's loss is tremendous. She kept her family together through love. She was authentic and made the effort to have a meaningful relationship with everyone whom she loved, including her extended family and friends.
Gloria was a blessing to her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her legacy lies in her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She lives in them. Her life is a lesson in integrity, resilience, forgiveness, empowerment, and—most importantly—love. Fly high, Honey, Mama, Grandma, and Big Grandma! We love you!
