Obituary

Gloria R. Tijerina went to be with our lord and her husband on May 24, 2022, at the age of 80. Born on June 25, 1941, to Leon and Jesusita Rodriguez in San Antonio, Texas. She attended high school at Fox Tech but as the second oldest, she set aside her education to help her parents raise her four brothers and sisters. At 17, she worked as a beautician at a beauty salon. She married on August 14, 1966, to Andrew Tijerina, they had three daughters Linda, Gloria, and Maricela. She was a loyal employee and retired from Target where she worked for over 30 years. A skillful baker, many enjoyed her delicious cakes that she made for all occasions. A huge sports fan, her love for the Spurs, Cowboys and Longhorns shined fabulously by her large shirt collection, which she always wore proudly. Devoted to never missing a game on tv and always keeping score throughout the playoffs. She was a member of the St. Mary Magdalene Guadalupanas, Spanish choir, eucharist minister and assisted with many church activities and festivals. She loved her family very much and was a great role model to her nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and nine nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. Visitation services will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022, from 3:30pm to 8pm, Rosary at 6pm at Castillo funeral home at 520 N. General McMullen, SA., TX 78228. Departing for Mass at 9:15am on Monday, June 13, 2022, to St. Mary Magdalene Church. Proceeding after mass to the cemetery at Mission Park South 1700 SE Military Dr.
