It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria C. Whitten, 73, who departed this life peacefully on May 21, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by her beloved family.
Gloria was born on July 1, 1952, to Raul T. Alvarado and Carmen Alvarado in San Antonio, Texas. She was a vibrant and caring person whose fun spirit, infectious laughter, and radiant smile brought joy to everyone around her. Gloria had a unique ability to make those she encountered feel cherished and valued.

Her legacy continues through her eight beloved grandchildren: Ashley Moreno, Jocelyn Moreno, David Matthew Montalvo, Eithan Moreno, Ayden Moreno, Kelley Garcia, Lila Garcia, and Alyssa Garcia.
Gloria is also survived by her three brothers: Raul (Rosario) Alvarado, Richard Alvarado, and Robert Alvarado; and three sisters: Carmen Rodriguez, Diana (Richard) Garcia, and Guadalupe (Roland) Mireles, and our family friend Rosario Villegas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will carry forward her loving spirit.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, William Whitten; her son, Raul Moreno; her parents, Raul and Carmen Alvarado; sisters Cecilia and Dominga Alvarado, and Sophie Quesada; her brother Ruben Alvarado; and her precious grandson, Raul Moreno.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff and everyone at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston for the compassion and care they provided during her illness.
Gloria will be laid to rest beside her husband at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on June 11, 2026.
