Guadalupe S
Balmez
Dec 11, 1939 — May 24, 2026
Guadalupe S. Balmez
Guadalupe S. Balmez, 86, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, May 24, 2026. Born in Palau, Coahuila, Mexico, Guadalupe lived a remarkably full and beautiful life. For 43 wonderful years, she was the devoted wife of Seferino A. Balmez. Together, they poured their hearts and hard work into their community, owning and operating La Poblana Bakery for over 35 years.
Guadalupe and Seferino became cherished fixtures of the Westside Barrio. From the Lanier students stopping in for sweet bread before school, to police officers picking up donuts and cinnamon twists at the start of their shifts, their bakery was a place of warmth and connection. They were well-known and respected by fellow local store owners—including Botello, Speedys, and La Guadalupanita—as well as the tenants of the Alazán Apache community.
Above all, Guadalupe was a woman of profound grace who gave unconditional love to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion through her children: her sons, Onésimo Cordero, Rafael Balmez, and Gonsalo "Gonzo" Balmez, and her daughter, Maria Cordero, as well as her beloved granddaughters, Giselle Guadalupe Balmez, Rachelle Guadalupe Balmez and grandsons Rafael Balmez Jr., Adrian Balmez.
