Olguin
December 24, 1945 – March 1, 2024
Guadalupe S Olguin passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2024, at his home in San Antonio, TX, surrounded by his devoted wife of 57 years and his children and grandchildren.
Born in 1945, he grew up at St. Peter St. Joseph orphanage. During his youth he found himself with a decision to make, he was told to either join the military or face going to Gainesville home for boys. Under his older brother's credentials, he decided to join the US Army as a Pathfinder in the 82nd Airborne division. He was in country at just 16 years old. During his tour in Vietnam he was a POW, he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star among other military accolades.
Guadalupe was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, son, Antonio and grandchildren, Mandy Rodriguez and Marcos Antonio Olguin. He is survived by his children, Jorge Luis (Vicky), Lydia Bosquez (George),Tony (Roselva), Maricela Olguin(Rambo);his grandchildren, Vicente Antonio Davila, Ivania Coronado(Edgar),Antonio Rodriguez, Jeremy David Rodriguez(Jessica), Carlos Rodriguez(Jasmin), Matthew Olguin (Jenuary), Samuel Olguin, Luke Olguin and Aurora Luna Olguin; his great grandchildren, Sean Anthony Davila, Sadie Emila Coronado, Tayden Isaiah Rodriguez, Kayeli Jane Rodriguez and Josiah Olguin.
Guadalupe cherished his family, friends, travel, fishing and above all else dancing with his beautiful wife to the conjunto music of Los Fantasmas del Valle. He volunteered at the San Anto Cultural Arts Center, Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center, the Esperanza peace and Justice Center, The Tejano Conjunto festival, International Accordion festival and various other events throughout the city of San Antonio and his beloved West Side. He leaves with us beautiful memories. He will truly be missed by all those who loved him.
There will be a rosary held at Castillo Funeral home on Gen. McMullen on Wednesday, March 20th. There will be a mass on Thursday, March 21st at Our Lady of Guadalupe, followed by interment at Ft. Sam Houston National cemetery
