Hector Carrillo
Perez
December 5, 1948 – September 18, 2021
On Saturday September 18, 2021 Hector Carrillo Perez peacefully departed this world to enter the gates of Heaven where he was finally reunited with his parents Filiberto Perez and Olivia Carrillo. He was 73 years old and was born in Monterrey, Mexico on December 05, 1948. He grew up in Monterrey, California and San Antonio, Texas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Maria Mata Perez, and his two sons Hector Efrain Perez, Jr. and Guillermo Eric Perez. He was blessed with two grandchildren Guillermo Enrique Perez, Jr. and Gabriella Haley "Gabby" Perez.
Mr. Perez graduated in 1967 from Edgewood High School in San Antonio, Texas where he played football (wide receiver), played trumpet on the marching band, and was the leader of the "Hi-Tones" combo band. He also played 2 nd base for the "Tejanos" semi-pro baseball team.
His love of sports encouraged him to become a little league baseball coach for the Pan American Baseball League and Prospect Hill Youth Organization where he won several state and district championships. His dedication to the sport of baseball led him to become a little league umpire where he was voted umpire of the year.
After retiring as a sheet metal worker he obtained his certification as a Pharmacy Technician and worked at Empire Pharmacy. He enjoyed helping the community by assisting them with their pharmaceutical needs.
Mr. Perez enjoyed playing the acoustic guitar, riding his motorcycles, watching the NFL (Cowboys), " fixing " everything, gambling, arguing with court TV, drinking coffee, fishing, listening to "Sunny and the Sunliners", eating every hostess brand cupcake flavor ever made, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Perez was not the perfect man, but he definitely had a loving heart. We will miss you dad, but we understand that it was your time to go home.
Even though it wasn't said enough, he always knew he was loved.
