Helen M
Flores
September 9, 1939 – February 20, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Helen M. Flores, who departed this life peacefully on February 20, 2025, at her residence. Helen was born on September 9, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas, to Pedro Martinez and Mariana Garcia.
Helen lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of everyone she met with her warmth and kindness. She was married for 50 wonderful years to the love of her life, Silvestre H. Flores, with whom she shared countless cherished moments. Together, they built a loving family filled with laughter, love, and enduring memories. Helen was preceded in death by her dear husband and her beloved children—Patricia Vasquez, Mary Ann Riojas, Geronimo Vasquez, Silvestre Flores Jr.—as well as her brother, Pedro Martinez Jr.
Helen is survived by her devoted children: Jose Vasquez, Elizabeth Celestino, Ignacio Vasquez, Gabriel Flores, Daniel Flores, Hope Flores, Consuelo Aragon, Antonio Flores, Fernando Flores, Vicente Flores, and Irene Mermea. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, blessed with countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored her and whom she cherished deeply. Helen's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Throughout her life, Helen showed a remarkable spirit of compassion and dedication, which was especially evident during her many years of employment at Morningside Manor. There, she found joy in caring for her patients, treating them with the same love and respect she offered her own family.
Helen was known for her vibrant personality and her love of the finer things in life. Her favorite color was red, a fitting reflection of her passionate spirit. Most importantly, Helen cherished the moments spent with her family, creating bonds that were unbreakable and memories that will last a lifetime.
Her siblings, Esther Cantu and Beatrice Lopez, also survive her, providing a testament to the strong familial ties that Helen fostered and nurtured throughout her life.
A memorial service to honor Helen's remarkable life will be held at Castillo Funeral Home on Thursday March 6, 2025 to include viewing 5-8 PM and rosary 6 PM. We invite family and friends to join us in celebrating the life of such an extraordinary woman who touched so many lives.
Helen M. Flores will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she loved. May she rest in peace, embraced by the love of her husband and children who have gone before her.
