Helen Kay Matthews, age 67, of San Antonio, Texas , passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025. Born on January 10, 1958, in Blytheville, Arkansas, Helen was a woman of warmth, creativity, and deep love for her family. Her presence brought light and kindness to those around her, and she will be dearly missed.

Helen had a passion for arts and crafts, relaxing in the game room, and above all, cherishing time with her loved ones — especially her beloved granddaughter, Henley, her "pumpkin." Recently retired in July, Helen was looking forward to enjoying quiet days, cozy naps, and time with both Henley and her cherished dog, Bella Blue.

Helen was known for her giving spirit and was always willing to lend a hand to others, embodying compassion and generosity in everything she did.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe D. Pena Jr.; stepmother, Faye Pena; mother, Helen "Doty" Hodges; and brothers Mickey Pena and Tony Pena.

She is survived by her son Clinton Matthews and daughter-in-law Pamela Matthews; stepsons Jason Matthews and Greg Matthews; grandchildren Erin Martinez and Henley Matthews; brothers Steven Pena and David Pena; and stepsister Sheryl Pope .

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025 , from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. , with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. , at:
