Obituary

Herlinda Villarreal was called to Heaven on November 8, 2023, at the age of 56. Herlinda was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 2, 1967, to Hijinio and Eldefonsa Escalera. Herlinda was known for always having a smile on her face and being in a good mood. She was the life of the party, and usually, it was a party that she planned. She enjoyed watching sports, mainly The Spurs and The Cowboys, and she loved to dance and listen to Oldies and classic rock. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandbabies. She loved them to the moon and back and would move Heaven and Hell to make sure they were taken care of. Herlinda loved to prove people wrong, especially when they doubted her because of her gender. If she was told she couldn't accomplish something, she would say "Hold my drink (and her beer salt)" and show you she COULD do it (and she usually did it better). Herlinda worked for Sony and SAPD, until she got the call to work for Toyota, where she dedicated 17 years to the Quality Assurance department. Herlinda was a loving Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Aunt that will be dearly missed. We will carry your joy for life in our hearts and carry on the traditions you started. Herlinda is reunited in Heaven with her brother Ernesto Escalera; nephew Frederick Tames, Jr.; and Aunt Angela Trevino. She leaves behind her loving husband of 25 years Richard Montesdeoca; parents Hijinio and Eldefonsa Escalera; daughters Neomi Villarreal (Frank) and Ariel Garcia (Henry); sons George Anthony Villarreal (Mikalea) and Richard Montesdeoca II (Addie); grandchildren Jacob, Naxhiely, Arcadius, Adelaide, Oliver, Athena, Jozlynn, Elyis, Angel, and Juan; siblings Hijinio Escalera Jr., Diana Flores (Eddie), Lupe Tames, and Virginia "Virgie" Escalera; her loving primos from Dallas, Texas; along with numerous extended family and friends.
Visitation will take place at Castillo Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a Rosary to begin at 6:00pm. Family and friends will depart in procession at 10:00am for a Funeral Mass at St. Jude Catholic Church at 10:30am. Burial to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
