Hilario "Larry"
Tenerias
December 30, 1951 – November 3, 2020
Hilario "Larry" Tenerias passed away unexpectedly on November 3, 2020 in his home surrounded by his family. He was 68 years old. He was born on December 30, 1951.
Larry served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He graduated from Harlandale High School in 1970, and also completed his Associate's Degree in Political Science from St Phillips College and went on to work for the VA Hospital and retired after 20 years. In the summer of 1983, he married the love of his life Nelda A Tenerias. He spent a lot of his time on the baseball field coaching his son, doing yardwork and making sure his yard was the best in the neighborhood. He enjoyed watching the New York Yankees play; he was a die hard fan all of his life and that love for the team was passed on to his wife and children. Weekend barbeques were a staple in the Tenerias household; his grilling skills were carried on by his son, who is keeping the tradition going today. One of his greatest joys was being around his grandchildren, being a grandpa "Popo" was his greatest passion. Most precious to Larry was his family; as long as his wife, kids, and grandkids were taken care of, that's all he needed to be happy.
Larry is also preceded in death by his brother Jesse Tenerias, his sister Laura Puente and father Hilario Tenerias.
Larry is loved and will be missed by his wife of 37 years, Nelda; his son Jason; his daughter Amanda (Bryan); 2 grandchildren; Domnic and Araceli. His mother Susie Tenerias, his siblings Eloise Pena (Diego), Lydia Jimenez (Albert), JoAnn Zapata (Jimmy), Roland Tenerias (Leticia), Micahel Schmidt (Gracie) Lisa Hicks (Stephen) and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
