Obituary

Homer was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas.  He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1967.  He held many jobs throughout his life, but his lifelong dedication belonged to Parent/Child, Inc. where he worked for 35 years.  He loved his job at PCI working in the Procurement Dept.; he always said he had the best staff.  He retired in 2010 and filled his days with making leaders for fishing trips and grilling some burgers or a steak.  He always said he was a meat and potatoes man.  He loved putting together model airplanes and staying busy around the house.  He did Lyft for a few years, and said he really enjoyed it because he got to meet a lot of interesting people, and it kept him off the couch.  He would watch old Johnny Carson videos on the computer for hours laughing to himself while eating dark chocolate M&Ms.  His passion was fishing and camping in Port Aransas, a place he always felt a sense of serenity, and considered it his home away from home.  He loved hanging out on the beach and drinking a Miller Lite whether it was with family, good friends or just him and wifey.  Homer also loved riding his Harley throughout San Antonio and the hill country and made it a point to stop at a picnic area to eat and watch the world go by.  He listened to the 40's and 50's big band music, Tejano, Country, and Luis Miguel.  Pop a Top and Friends in Low Places always put him in a good mood, which didn't take much because he was always a fun happy person.  He loved watching the History Channel, Discovery Channel or one of his favorite movies – Top Gun, Pearl Harbor, Red Tails, all while having a glass of milk and dunking his Oreo cookies - his favorite snack. He kept in touch with his elementary school buddies and even though they didn't talk as often he always knew they were only a phone call away.  When his siblings called that they needed something to be fixed or a question answered big brother was always there to help in any way he could.  Homer had the best sense of humor always making everyone laugh.  He would say if I made you laugh or smile, I'm doing my job. He was such a good friend to many, a great brother, father, and above all an amazing husband.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and everyone whose life he touched in one way or another.
