Davila
February 9, 1941 – October 9, 2021
Hortencia A. Davila went to be with our Lord on October 9, 2021, at the age of 80.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose T. Alvarado, and Josefa Magallanez; her brothers, Richardo Alvarado and Juan Guevara; and her great grandchildren, Aria and Liam Ramirez; a son-in-law, John Philip Perez, and Samuel C. Davila.
Hortencia leaves behind to cherish in her memory her children, Susana A. Davila, Rachel D. Pena, David Davila (Janet Davila), Cynthia D. Cox (Johnny Cox), Sally D. Vazquez (Richard Vazquez), and Sandra Dee Davila; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild, her companion, Rene Trevino; her pet chihuahua Blackie; and her siblings, Graciela A. Fernandez, Antelmo Alvarado, Maria A. Granado, and Rosalinda Kempin; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Hortencia was born on February 9, 1941, in Mexico. She was dedicated to her family and her work retiring from the Baptist Hospital after 25 years as a dietary cook. Hortencia loved to cook, it was her passion and where she found much happiness. She loved listening to music and dancing. She was deeply loved and brought immense joy to those around her. We loved her sense of humor and her caring ways. Hortencia will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
Words cannot express the feeling in our hearts. Thank you for your prayers and support during this difficult time. Your shared memories, comforting condolences and gestures of love are truly appreciated.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021, at Castillo Mission Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. with services concluding after mass.
