Hortencia G. Delgado passed away on December 10, 2021, at the age of 67.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John Gonzalez and Margarita Gomez Gonzales.

She leaves behind her significant other of seven years, Gregory A. Flores, her beloved son Ignacio Delgado III, and her favorite dog "Loki".

Hortencia was born on August 21, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from the Edgewood school district in 1973. Her passion for taking care of young people and investing in their future brought Hortencia back to the Edgewood school district upon completing college. Hortencia had many roles within the district, working as a secretary and then school nurse before retiring in 2019 after more than 25 years of service to the youth of her community. Even after retiring she continued to work as an occasional substitute teachers aid until her passing. Hortencia gave back to her community by serving the Edgewood alumni committee from 2014 to 2016 including the Christmas dance committee, she was a severance of the cross committee member for many months, and a part of the guardians of the children from 2016 to 2019. Hortencia had many interests including playing darts and loteria with friends and family, taking a trip to Kickapoo to try her luck, and having good music to dance too. She loved her family and friends, and especially loved the memories made together. Hortencia brought immense joy to those around her. We loved her caring ways, and she will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

A visitation will be held at Castillo Funeral Home on Saturday, December 18, 2021, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a rosary to be recited at 3:00 pm. Services to conclude following Saturday's visitation.
