Hortencia L.
Puente
February 12, 1928 – February 24, 2022
In the very early morning hours of February 24th, 2022, our dear Nana, Hortencia L Puente, passed away peacefully in her sleep, after being in frail health the past few months. She was 'Nana' to her nieces and nephews, and 'Tencha' to everyone who knew and loved her. Tencha was born in San Antonio, TX, February 12, 1928 and lived here all her life. She was predeceased by her parents, Julio Puente and Maria Puente. Sisters Martina Medellin, and Gloria Hernandez, brother Luis Puente, and nephews Julio Puente and Larry Medellin. She is survived by nephews Mike Medellin, Roger Puente, and Martin Puente, and nieces Cruz Hernandez, M. Rachel Hernandez, Yolanda Sanchez, Norma Medellin, Jeanna Ratcliffe, and Angelina Lintecum. Also by many great nephews and nieces, cousins, and god children. She had celebrated her 94th birthday with family and close friends just 12 days before her passing, it was a good day for her. We all knew her to be a caring person, having cared for her mother, brother, sister and nephews. She worked for many years, and during this time, formed friendships that lasted her life lifetime. Pets were a big part of her life, since she had a great love for all animals. Hortencia enjoyed going out to eat, Luby's, La Gardenia and IHOP being among her favorites. The Market Square, San Antonio Zoo, and the Fiesta parades were favorite outings. Nana was always ready for holidays with family, birthday parties with big piñatas, baby showers and all celebrations.
Our family would like to thank Amedisys for all their help and guidance. A heartfelt thank you to Albert Lastra, her nurse, and to Jaye, her aid. She loved you both.
Thank you to all who have helped our family with love, meals, and precious company during this difficult time including nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, Fina, all that have helped.
We are sure that she is smiling down with a heart full of love for all of us.
Tencha loved us all
